An OK book--kind of a "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" for young adults. I got the feeling the author was trying too hard to make the girls have authentic teenage voices. But then again I'm a long way away from being a teenage girl and I have 3 teenage/young adult sons. So what do I know? Substance and style, these pants have it all! Meet the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: Carmen, Lena, Tibby, and Bridget, who are spending their summer apart for the first time since birth. When they find a pair of pants in the back bin of a vintage clothing shop, which somehow magically fit them all perfectly, they believe they’ve found the perfect way to stay connected over their first summer apart. It’s a summer of change for all four girls, full of emotional ups and downs. I have read few ...more

Thought this sounded kind of lame, really enjoyed it. Did not end up finishing the series though.

I loved this book! Ever since I saw the movie, I wanted to read the book, and I finally did. It didn’t disappoint. I loved how the story moved between different characters in their own specific situations but were tied together through their letters and, of course, the magic pants. You should definitely read this!

Four girls and close friends buy a pair of jeans in a second hand store. The jeans are magical - each of girls has different type of body build - and they fit each of friends. Nice read. Not stupid.
