(4.5) Amazing style, a pleasure to read, if of a distasteful subject
The voice that Nabokov adopts for his character, Humbert, was impressive...learned, slightly sociopathic, creepy, neurotic. Just a flat-out well written novel. My first Nabokov...I'll be reading more. Somehow just can't give it 5 stars...perhaps just the pedophilia holds me back?

Finally trying to read this book as an effort to understand how a book on such a gross and horrible subject can be so highly rated and adored as a classic by so many.
Great prose, wonderfully written, sickening content that was very disturbing to listen to. Would have given more stars, but based on the content I could not.
