It's not entirely accurate, since it is written by a white male, but the author did do his research. I think geishas are, in general, considered to be the same as prostitutes, and that's just not true. I really enjoyed this book.
As a side note: I'm mad as anything at the movie ... why would they choose an almost entirely Chinese cast for a JAPANESE film? ...more

I loved it, but took enough classes re: Japanese culture have to make the note it was not necessarily the most accurate in some ways.
