What Members Thought
Well, my last book on the GR most-read-all-time list (world) was somewhat disappointing. Have you ever read a book that everyone has loved, found it to be less than amazing, and wondered if you're just an idiot who's missing something?...Yeah. While parts of the story were interesting and I found myself getting caught up in them, and it was basically likable most of the time, I also had many criticisms and was somewhat surprised this was a most-read. The movie did not do this book justice. Throughout the entire book, you're learning so much more about a way of life, about being that water as it flows over everything and perseveres, about just being happy in life no matter what. It's a theme you get in the movie for sure as the story unfolds and the protagonist endures but you lose all of the physical descriptions in the novel, the detail, the sheer sense of stepping into the pages and swimming in your senses of smell and sight.
