This one started out just okay for me, but got more complex and more interesting as it went on. I was afraid it was a standard coming-of-age story (which, let's be honest, are usually all the same story arc). Fairy tale type stories were woven in seemingly at random, but had a nice effect on the mood of the book. I had previously read Winterson's "Written on the Body" which I think is much better, but this one is worth a read (plus it's short). ...more
