It probably has something to do with the fact that I read so much children’s and YA lit, but this is the first book I’ve read in a long time where I was genuinely surprised/impressed by the plot twists.

Brilliant world building and a diverse, intricate set of characters. Actual gasps towards the end as plot points started to slot into place.

Wow! That was so amazing and original. I'm at a loss for words to describe how much I enjoyed this book. I finished it more than an hour ago and my head and heart are still spinning from what Ms. Jemisin did with that story and those characters. Definitely deserving of the Hugo Award. Just, wow. ...more
