I just read this for the 2nd or 3rd time for a grad school class. I like Janie's mentality - "yuh got tuh go there tuh know there." So true. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because I still don't know what to make of the violence against women. Yeah, Tea Cake pays for his brutality, but what do we do about Mrs. Turner? She is a racist bitch, and not a likeable character, so that makes it ok? I'm not sure it does, and I don't have an answer for why Hurston allows her women to be
