A really great overview of the history of the feminist movement and its shortcomings in supporting Black women. Though published in 1981, many of the points Davis makes about the way the world was then are sadly still very relevant today.

I wish I had read this so much earlier in my life. How have I missed the opportunity to learn from her? So much history of how black women were systemically left out of the suffragette movement and how even within the black women's movement, there were different priorities and perspectives. It helps to provide context and real background instead of the deified version of our predecessors. Davis also teases so many historical women that I wish we had more information on them.
