Not much to say here without giving away the game. Code Name Verity delighted, scared, surprised me. I'd read other Wein books so I knew she was a good writer, but this one blows them all out of the water. If you like spy stories, books about friendship, mysteries, France, English people, World War II, bicycles, planes, writing, this book is for you. In short, this book is for ALL of you.

At times confusing, this double narrative had a good deal of historical information to bolster the story of a friendship forged in wartime. The last quarter was sad and surprising.
Edited--Just reread this three years later, and it was even better the second time than the first!
I can't really write any details about this book for fear of spoiling it, but seriously, just read it. As many others have warned in other reviews, it is a bit difficult to get into, because of all of the airplane-details in the beginning, but the payoff (once you get to the second part) is completely worth it. This is a lovely book. Well-crafted on every level. Another one (like The Book Thief) that I'm not sure needs to be "pigeonholed" as Young Adult. But, I hope zillions of young women read it.
