Well, this book has reminded me again that I'm a plot-driven person. It doesn't mean that I didn't like this book, but I simply enjoyed it less. This is too bad because the descriptions of the setting really brought me back to my time travelling in Kerala.

I enjoyed the way the author writes. Her talent is definitely writing from children's point of view...I love how she included their manner of speaking ie. describing a "Bar Nowl" instead of a "barn owl." Certain parts of the story felt so real and were hard to tear myself away from, such as the tragic moments when one of the children is molested. Other parts, though, really felt like they were dragging, and the ultimate "wrong" that was committed by the adults was hard to fully FEEL because as a
