i'm not sure about this book. somehow 2 seems so harsh so i'll round up. at page 188, i wrote this: while i do appreciate muscio's opinions, more research always adds a better punch. if you don't attack with facts, it risks just sounding like a rant. it is in her attempts to call women to action that i find most fault though. she does not want us to support "male" corporations that make tampons, birth control pills, etc. this completely discounts any possibility of women in executive or r&d posi

I liked it -- Muscio covers the power of language (hence the title), and important issues for women's bodies (menstruation, sex, prostitution, rape). Much of the ground she covers is well-tread, but Muscio offers a unique voice (didn't always agree with her, of course), and a serious pro-woman perspective. THAT is what makes this book important.

Changed my entire life experience. It's one of those books that I need to re-read every once in a while to regain an appropriate perspective.
