Kingsolver gets a little preachy in this story of a missionary who is an asshole. Good female characters, though you keep wishing someone would just smack papa upside the head and tell him his first obligation is the health and safety of his family, not converting the heathens.
I read the book a long time ago, but it is one of my favorites of all time!
This book is beautifully written and each of the characters has a very distictive voice. THe sroty was facinating, and I loved the texture of the jungle and the lives of these people. I did get tired of it near the end, very little happened in the last 1/3.
