Sigh....NOW I just HAVE to read more non-fiction about some of the people portrayed in this novel. The Grimke sisters, Denmark Vesey, Theodore Weld. Every good book I read increases my 'to-read" list by more! This IS a good Book!

This novel, set during the slave era in Charleston, was good, but didn't blow me away until I read the Afterward and found out that the characters and part of the story are TRUE! Wow.
