John Green has got to be my favorite YA author. He writes teens as if they are smart and funny and so very likable. This particular novel even has some relatively deep concepts along with quite an adventurous story. I would have loved it as a young teen, and enjoyed it a lot now as well.

"It is so hard to leave- until you leave. And then it is the easiest goddamned thing in the world."
This YA novel made me think.

Several things to say about this book:
1. Margo Roth Spiegelman is a bratty little bitch.
2. Quentin Jacobsen is a friend that I want to have.
3. I wish I read Paper Towns before Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars.
4. John Green toyed with my emotions in the cruelest sense of way.
5. I had to re-read the last paragraph of the book because I DID NOT GET IT. To be exact, my last word and thought after my first time reading the very last paragraph of the book was "WHAT???!!!" My second tho

I haven't read any other John Green books, so I can't compare this to those. I did really like this one. I also don't care what they say-I DO judge books by their covers all the time. I saw the bright sunny cover and made assumptions about the content; the copy I borrowed from the library had the washed-out blue cover with Margo looking disheveled. Today I had a debate with some high schoolers about which cover was a better reflection of the book. They made interesting points; I thought my cover ...more

I'm not a huge Green fan, but the book is much better than the movie. I'm intrigued by his ability to write an entertaining novel that is also almost an essay on Whitman. ...more

Not quite LfA or TFiOS, but still an inspiring and illuminating read. Anyone want to go on a spontaneous road trip?
