What Members Thought
Like many, I was interested in this book because of the Wall Street Journal controversy surrounding Amy Chua's article. I think a lot of the discussion around Chua's article would've calmed down if people had actually read the book. It's not a parenting guide, it's a memoir and a very readable one at that. Książka opisuje życie rodziny chińsko - żydowskiej i modelu wychowawczego tzw. chińskiej matki, który nie przewiduje porażki. Z jednej strony, bo uczy dyscypliny i konsekwencji, ale z drugiej strony może powodować poważne problemy psychologiczne, bo osoba wychowywana "po chińsku" nie umie sobie poradzić z uczuciami po porażce lub wyniku słabszym niż oczekiwany.
