Loosely inspired by Snow White, The Shadow Queen follows power-infused mardushka Lorelai and dragon-shifting king Kol, who has been sent by the pretender queen to hunt her down. Full of characters I could care less about, too much action and dialogue that tried a little too hard, this is one fractured fairy tale a had a lot of problems with.

4.75 stars. Oh. My. Stars. I don't think I expected to fall in love with The Shadow Queen, but I totally did! I liked Lorelai a whole lot; she's the type of fantasy heroine that I root for, and that I want to be BFFs with. I also loved Kol quite a lot; he's worthy of my swooning because he's loyal, brave and strong. And I really liked the story! Redwine certainly draws inspiration from Snow White, but she twists the elements into something that feels fresh and new. This is, by far, one of the be ...more

Blanca nieves who?

When I first started reading this is wasn't too sure I was going to end up liking it. I don't know what it was but there was just this fear that it wasn't going to be what I expected or at least, what I had hoped it would be. I'm glad to say though that my opinion changed right away. If you are a fan of the ABC series Once Upon a Time this is the book for you. It is identical and totally has that same vibe; our "Snow White" is living life on the run acting as a Robin Hood type character but with ...more

This is an amazing, fresh retelling on Snow White. I found things pretty confusing at first but then got more into the book. Some things were predictable and didn't really shock me, but when they did, it was either ok or wow, never really FANTASTIC. At first I thought of things about a character and didn't really like that person due to the synopsis, but I gradually started to warm up but still on edge to see what the person would do. I think the last quarter of the book was better

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced read and the start of the book suprised me alot. I did not expect the way this started. I love the presence of magic and dragons in a snow white retelling. I love the lead guy in this so much and the villain was terrible. Very fast pace read.
