This book is about the Ute Indians of Colorado and their practice of culturally modifying the trees of the area. There are several kinds of these Prayer Trees with varying significance. John Anderson presents a respectful documentation of the Ute Native Americans in the Pikes Peak Region and the magnificent Ponderosa pine trees which have been modified by the Utes, sometimes by many generations over the years.
