In not atypical dystopian novel style, this book drops you right in the middle of a story of someone's life, and the pieces of how she got to be where she is fall into place later. I'm not a fan of this type of storytelling, as I usually flounder for quite a while trying to get a feel for the book, the characters, the narrative, which is what happened to me with this book. This book depicts a world that is horrible, one that I never want to live in!I fear that the misogyny in our world today could allow this form of society to happen.

59% into it and it's taken me 3 weeks to get here. It's SO SLOW!! Not sure I can finish it. I did finish it. It took 9 months and I listened to the audiobook for the last 41%. The audiobook was decent. I guess, in the end, I had higher hopes for this read. ...more
