I liked the idea of 4 parallel universe Londons with different levels of magic, and the use of the Antari "couriers" between them. However, the overall "mission" - get this (evil) artifact back to the place where it was created to contain/destroy it via an epic journey across lands - felt very much like a rip off of Lord of the Rings - right down to it making the wielder more power hungry, being used as an invisibility cloak, and having a nonmagical sidekick who is seeming

This is one of those books that you simultaneously can't put down yet you never want it to end. It was so well written, the concept was amazing, and the characters were awesome. I grabbed this book on a whim at work and I'm so glad I did! Amazing read, can't wait for the next one! ...more
