What Members Thought
I don't know how Kate Atkinson does it--manages to take a WII spy/action story and imbue it with a protagonist that is fully realized in her thoughts and actions--AND manages to take a genre that is almost universally stoic in tone and creates moments of comedy. I read this for my OTHER book club. All of us liked it, which while not unheard of, happens pretty rarely. Atkinson is one of those writers who has a firm grasp on plotting without sacrificing characterization.
