What Members Thought
LOVED this book. It's magical, a fairy tale for grown ups. All the characters are interesting, but I think my favorite is Olive, the "ancient pipe-smoking librarian". My library colleagues will love her, especially the Children's Librarians.

How can a book that starts out so dark end on such a happy note?
This was a neighborhood book club pick… some thing I never would’ve picked up otherwise. A sweet story with a magical fairy tale quality and lots to discuss. I loved the cover with the gold beech tree leaf and all the references to trees. The only thing preventing me from rating this a five star was it was a little bit too wordy and lengthy of a book.
