Love, love, love this book. I'm so glad I finally made time to read it. I've seen both the John Wayne movie (several times) and the contemporary version (once) and it is incredible to see how close the movies follow the book. I think it is a real testament to Charles Portis' amazing novel- the action, the dialogue and the suspense. If only more contemporary filmmakers could take great novels and stay true to them, we would have more good movies like True Grit! Whether or not you've seen the movi ...more
