What Members Thought
We know Oscar is doomed. He's overweight, a nerd, and has no close friends. He's in the US with his mom and sister having moved here from the Dominican Republic. We also see the family's history under the dictator Trujillo and how these events cast a shadow of doom and gloom which contributes to Oscar's never being able to truly shake his unhappiness. He falls in love but can't cope when things fall apart which leads to his ultimate demise.
