Maybe it is just me - looking at most of the glowing reviews, I am in the minority about this book. The Chalk Man felt like a British version of "Stand by Me", with a creepy, middle aged alcoholic narrator. Set in the 1980's in a small English village that attracts a lot of tourists, but has real problems underneath. A vicar who abuses his child, Eddie's mom the abortionist who is being vilified in her community, a disgusting bully, a new albino teacher that is wrapped in mystery, and more. When
