Heartbreaking, eye-opening powerful book that leaves readers with lots to think about. I appreciated the narrative stories approach but it was difficult to read. I liked how Desmond looked at the lives and situations of both the tenants and the landlords. He gave a pretty thorough picture of what they're going through. Desmond talks about methodology including spending time with and helping the tenants with small things. He asks readers and other researchers to do further research to see ways to ...more
