What Members Thought
I like that Jeanne Birdsall's The Penderwicks has a timeless feel. Little Women feels like the template she was going for (with a widowed father, rather than wise Marmee, and Jeffrey fills in for Laurie), although it isn't as ambitious as that classic. The sisters seem a little stock (their personalities are pretty much defined by their interests, and none of them have overlapping interests/they never really seem to surprise you with the messy caprice of doing anything outside their interests/pe

A quaint little tale about a carefree summer vacation and childhood perspectives. It wasn't the best middle grade fiction I've read, but it was enterataining enough.
