This book was not my cup of tea, I can’t handle a story that is one depression leading to another. I appreciate that the story and the setting are outside my normal reading topics, but I just can’t handle the sad content.

This was the sweeping epic story of Korean girl who gets pregnant out of wedlock and marries minister on his way to Japan. It tells the lesser known story of Koreans in Japan. It was a wonderful book and hard to put down. A long fascinating look at a part of history of which I had not been so familiar while telling the stories of interesting characters.
