Very different from your usual novels, written in an interesting style, and not easy to follow at times. I did find that just reading it without worrying about who is speaking, still allowed the gloominess and grief to come through. Not what I expected, but a good and different type of read.

We just finished this for one of my book clubs. It excited me intellectually, the way he brought nonfiction and a ghost story together. I loved how the nonfiction accounts remind you of the slipperiness of history, that there are facts (i.e., Lincoln's young son died) and then there are accounts that are colored by the perceptions of individuals (most attendees of the party the night young Lincoln died recount a beautiful moon that night; others talk about storm clouds.)
