Le Cirque des Reves appears suddenly, without warning, and with little fanfare. Its black and white tents seem to unfold from the ground, filled with unimaginable, wondrous magic controlled by two powerful magicians, Celia and Marco, who find much more than they bargained for in this lyrical book.

One of the most engaging fiction books I read this year. I enjoy books with a "magical" element in the story - and this book is filled with spells, romance, and a deadly competition. Under the right director, this would make a fantastic movie!

Really liked this one.
The basic plot involves a contest between two magicians. The beginning reminded me a bit of The Prestige, but it's really all about the lush images of the Night Circus (the venue for the contest), as well as all of the people caught up around the fringes. Plenty of dream-like images. The circus would be a delight to explore.

Really loved the magic and intrigue of this book along with the mysterious-ness of the circus itself and the challenge. I don't know that I would call it a happy ending but it's very satisfying nonetheless. Well written and really worth reading if you enjoy fantasy with a bit of a darker slightly more adult edge.
