Jason Reynolds loves telling stories and it shows. The flow of this story takes you into Reynolds' family background. We travel with Genie and his brother Ernie to Georgia from Brooklyn and discover hidden family secrets that once out will change these boy's lives forever. ...more

Genie and his older brother Ernie are spending the summer with their grandparents in the country. Both brothers are a little unsure about this summer spent away from their urban home and with grandparents who they hardly know. This book really comes alive through the characters and setting as we see the brothers have summer adventures and as they get to know and understand their grandparents. Excellent book.
