This was one of those annoyingly transparent books that offers a clear warning to readers but isn't subtle about it at all. It's not entirely bad, of course, just not always the most entertaining to read when you can see what's coming a mile away. Also couldn't stop rolling my eyes at the blatant shark symbolism throughout the second book. Seriously? It felt almost insultingly condescending, as if the author felt we'd be too stupid to pick up on that on our own. On the whole, it was a good story

The Circle is the company to work for, it is an Internet company trying to take over all programs to provide transparency for all people. Mae is a newcomer (newb) to the company and is immediately taken in by their policies and outlook on life. She buys into their sharing theories after being chastised for leaving the campus to visit family and to go kayaking without posting about her activities.
