Once again the ratings don't portray how I felt about this book. Was it well written? yes. Engaging? yes. What didn't work for me was if you have ever had anyone close to you give you the lies, erratic behavior that brother Leo exhibits in this book - it may hit a little too close to home. I would give this book 3.5 stars. I read it because it was written by a fellow Mercy grad (Class of 78) and I wAnt to support her. I read this book for book Club; otherwise, I would never have finished it. The characters are all unlikeable, sex-driven, and dishonest. The final chapter has a somewhat redemptive quality, but the reader has to slog through a lot of dysfunction and downright slime to get there.

Ugh

Another book about a boring family of unlikable white folks, whining about money. Why are these books (and television shows) so popular?

Slow start, but loved the dysfunctionality of them all!
