I really enjoyed this young adult book, that also describes life in the early 1900's in the Adirondacks. A Northern Light weaves together a fictional tale of Mattie, a young girl who is tied to her small farm in the North Woods caring for her siblings and helping her father when her mother dies of cancer. Mattie is a talented student, and dreams of attending college at Barnard in NYC. Although her story weaves in tandem with the murder of Grace Brown on a boat at Big Moose Lake, most of the stor
