We read this for book club. I didn't enjoy it as much as The Sun Also Rises or A Moveable Feast, but I liked it better than A Farewell to Arms. While I never read it in high school, a lot of my friends in other classes were assigned it. I'm still puzzled as to why to was so popular with high school classes. While now I can appreciate what Hemingway achieved here, saying so much with so much brevity, It would have bored the snot out of me as a teenager. ...more
