The worst! Izzy's modern-day story reads like a bad teen horror flick, filled with meaningless dialogue, cliches, and a secret that doesn't really make sense. Clara's story, set in the 1920's and 30's at Willard Asylum, is so dreary that you practically become immune to all the bad things that happen to her. I do not recommend this book! One star is only because the asylum itself is well-researched and becomes a character in its own right.

Heart-achingly sad in some parts, but I liked both timelines and narrators. Very well written and detailed descriptions of Willard and the patient's lives there.
