What Members Thought
Nobody does subtle, pervading dread like Shirley Jackson. This takes the themes of the short story "The Lottery" and humanizes some of the characters. I'd like to read about the author herself, following this.

This was ok. Very creepy to be in Merricat's head, but the "twist" was very obvious from the beginning. I think I would have loved it if the story were told with alternating narrators of Merricat and Constance because that would have created more tension between what was reality and what Merricat's reality was, and provided a different perspective. The setting very much reminded me of Manderley, and even a few of the plot points felt like they were trying to be a retelling of Rebecca, maybe if i
