I really enjoyed this account of Hedy Lamarr and George Antheil's "frequency hopping" innovation. It is so amazing to me that an actress and a composer with no formal scientific training were able to meet and come up with a concept and practice that would later pave the way for inventions like GPS, cell phones, wifi, and basically most wireless systems that we use today. Its a shame that the Navy didn't see more value in their patent submitted during WWII, as it definitely could have solved some ...more
