This was a really great story about how the power of friendship can influence how we make decisions and what we are willing to endure for the sake of our friends, especially during war time. Verity and Maddie don't know where each other are when their plane goes down in France, but neither one is ever far from the other's mind or heart. I cannot remember the last time that I finished a book and immediately started re-reading it. This is an amazing book-great characters, great setting, twists & turns and lots of "feels"! You also have to pay attention because this is not a quick, single layer read. I can't wait for "Rose Under Fire" by Elizabeth Wein (Sep 10, 2013).

Done in two narrative voices, Wein keeps you off balance with the first narrative. The reader will find themself unable to discern the truth of a point-of-view, or events, character traits, or even setting. It isn't until we hear the second voice that we regain our sense of balance. True to profound friendship, the true value of the story lies in the quality of the two voices in combination.
