Even though I hated the movie, I have heard that the book is a lot deeper and way better. It was definitely better than the movie, but I still just couldn't get into it. Perhaps if I had read it first, I would have enjoyed it more. I find Holly a very unlikable protagonist, but I guess that is how she is meant to be. My husband and I are both Truman Capote fans, so we were excited when our book club voted to read this. I am appreciative about how Capote can fit such an elegant and insightful story in this slim volume! Capote and Hemingway have very little in common, yet they remind me of each other with respect to how they can write in such a way where not a word is wasted and their stories are never bloated.

a classic by Truman Capote - I found the characters more than a little strange. I've never seen the movie, so I guess I was unprepared for the plotline, and the narrator's infatuation for Ms. Golightly. My favorite quote: "If you let yourself love a wild thing. You'll end up looking at the sky."
