I really enjoyed this book! I'm from Rochester, where this story takes place, and actually read this for a class. I first read Sonja Livingston when she came here for ROC Reads a few years ago, for her book Queen of the Fall. I loved the book, and I was impressed by her gracious, down to earth demeanor. Her memoir of growing up in poverty and finding beauty and strength in her religious community and in education is inspiring.
