It seems Sanderson's style is to have a slow beginning. But in the middle of this book, the pace starts to be faster. Much faster. A very good book.

I really wanted to like this, but somehow couldn't manage it.
Everything bugged me, from the simplicity of interactions to the inconsistency of the language, the absurdity of the idea that cleaning a wall could rescue someone from blinding pain, and the reality that the final fix should have been blindingly obvious to at least a few Elantrian scholars. Nice book, but as I've read some of his other work, I can see that as a writer he has grown a lot.

[Listened to audiobook] The narrator was great with accents and terrible with sentence pacing.
This was a good story. Far less complex than his later series. The main characters were likable despite/because of their flaws.
