So this was an interesting read.

There were times I found myself getting a little annoyed with or over this book, but then almost instantly there were times it would reel me right back in, resulting in somewhat of a mix of emotions for me. I don’t particularly feel strongly towards this book, that’s all I can say.

Many were painting it to be an absolute grandiose tale. I can’t say I’m disappointed exactly, more that I just didn’t get what I expected. The writing definitely ensured that I wasn’t So this was an interesting read.

The ending felt a little random and I don’t know... Intangible kind of seems like the right word. A little unrealistic, but then again, we don’t have to criticise fairy tales, that’s what there for, stories that fulfil dreams, and this sort of felt like a particularly elaborate fairy tale.

A lot of this book just felt up in the air and all over the place, going back and forth until you’re drifting around barely knowing where you’re going, like the story itself is a swirling cloud. Wasn’t necessarily a bad thing though. I certainly got a unique experience from The Night Circus, from the feel of the story. Some parts felt hard to grasp, but I’m not mad at it, I’m content to take it as it is. The Night Circus does it’s thing and it does it well.

So like I said, I didn’t get what I expected from this book, every blurb and description I read was so vague, I had no idea it would be a competition of magic that came to give me The Crown’s Game vibes, though it would be fair to say The Crown’s Game has vibes of The Night Circus since this obviously came first. Rather interesting I must say, the twisted minds of Hector Bowen and A. H were certainly quite delectably devious.

I didn’t find myself that taken with Celia and Marco though, not that I disliked them, I just didn’t love them. I adored Bailey, though again, that ending was a little random, but nice nonetheless I suppose. Poppet and Widget were good too but I found they - especially Poppet - acted way too old for their age, but again I suppose in the 1900’s kids did grow up by 16 and such didn’t they?

It’s simply like I said, I don’t hold strong feelings to much of this book. I didn’t love it, but I definitely didn’t dislike it, I suppose I’m glad I read it. I feel just quite indifferent to it. But for the time that I read it, I definitely enjoyed it. And I will say I definitely respect this book.

A fun and mystical read that makes the circus within its pages seem very, very real indeed. ...more

Foi difícil acabar este livro, tenho que admitir, apesar de ter gostado imenso do circo em si, achei o livro muito maçudo, confuso e a história por detrás também não me fascinou nada.
Se não gostas de livros descritivos, este livro não é para ti, eu sou dessas pessoas, por isso é que acho que esta não foi uma boa escolha. Tem demasiada descrição, tornando-o um livro lento e muitas vezes achei que se tornava confuso.
