This was a cautivating read. The Vanishing Half taught me a lot about race, identity, and how society and expectations impact our lifes and how we portray ourselves to the world.
After reading the book, I find myself constantly thinking how sad and cruel it is that we are sometimes forced to become someone we are not in order to find approval or love; while other times we are rejected or hated for developing and growing into someone we were not expected or supposed to be.

Nice story, great narrative and thoughts on racism but overall it falls flat, it keeps you waiting for something else to happen. ...more
