This is my first book by Elizabeth Acevedo and now that I finished it I finally understand what the hype was all about. Her writing is absolutely beautiful. I couldn't put the book down.
The book focuses mainly on the developement of the characters more than the story itself and I usually love that (when done right, like in this book). Emoni is so mature for her age and I related to her constant struggle to balance what her heart desired vs what she knew was the priority. ...more

Empece este libro sin saber de que trataba, solo sabía que la tematica estaba relacionada con la cocina.
La historia es muy emotiva, ya que se trata de una madre adolescente terminando la preparatoria, que encuentra en la cocina la fuerza para salir adelante. La historia me hizo confrontarme con los estereotipos que tenia sobre este tipo de situatuaciones y me hizo reflexionar mucho sobre la importancia de la empatia. El audiolibro es excelente y realmente le da un extra a esta hermosa, divertid ...more
