What Members Thought

Me encantó!

For a really long time I've been meaning to read this book but I never got around to it. Now, there's not really much I could say about this book but I will say I loved it. It was a good portrayal of the times, how racism was so normal and accepted back then. Sadly, racism isn't over and there's still much to do in that regard.
Favorite character: Scout and Atticus.
Least favorite character: the Ewells, specially Bob.
Favorite part: the trial was great but my favorite things were the parts were we ...more

My opinion:
Scout is a little girl, around 6, living in a southern town of Alabama: Monroeville. She lives with his middle-age lawyer widowed father Atticus and his older brother Jem. It is a normal town from 1930’s, the big depression has just passed, and the town is living by themselves. For Scout, that normal life will change soon. Atticus is appointed by the court to defend a black man named Tom Robinson, who has been accused of raping Mayella Ewell, a young white woman. The entire white town ...more

Aw. I'm happy I reread this. I definitely didn't grasp much back when this was required reading.
