one of the best, if not THE BEST, church history books I've read. Bennett's narrative of Church history and the biographies of the Church Fathers is exceptional and goes for the deep-stuff of their lives and how they affected national histories in the process. 5-stars on all counts!

Fantastic book recounting the first thousand years of Church history. Readable snippets of each person or event and very well tied together. Highly recommend.
