A nice little book on how Christians should see art. Does the Bible forbid the making of art? Does art have to be "Christian" to be worthwhile? This short work-essay by Francis Schaeffer leaves you wanting much more! This was a great little read. In 2 essays, Schaeffer first attacks the notion that because of the 2nd commandment, Christians shouldn’t create art. He shows how art is commanded and celebrated throughout the Bible. Secondly, Schaeffer gives 11 short principles or guides for how Christians should examine any piece of art. This was a helpful book for me.

This book will probably rate higher for people who are more interested in art and philosophy. It did not resonate so much with me personally. Schaeffer builds a case for the value of the arts. I love the logic of his biblical case and the freedom it brings for those who call themselves artists, musicians, makers, actors, etc.
