I had a hard time getting into the book, with the background information but once I got into it this book was terrific! This is a version of Dracula where the vampire comes to a small town in America. King once again portrays the small town and the secrets the people have so well. The action kept me tense and it made me think about the nature of evil and the "tools" used to combat it. If you liked Dracula you will like King's version.

Nobody does horror like Stephen King.
'Salem's Lot is incredibly well written and is the kind of book I can't just read in small increments which is why I had to put it aside until I had time for some uninterrupted reading.
Kings writing never ceases to amaze me. The first half of 'Salem's Lot is purely set up for the second half acting as an introduction to Jerusalem's Lot and it's residents. Even so, there's enough suspense to keep you satisfied until the second half when the vampires come out t ...more
