I LOVED this book. This was my first Lehane, having heard of him through movie adaptations of his books Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River and Shutter Island, but finally being pushed into his work by association with The Wire. I thought I would start from the beginning, and I'm glad I did. It is a cracker of a read, fast paced and just about 200 pages. It comes in really strong, but losses some of that kinetic momentum and gets bogged down in cliches and contrivance Still, it has plenty of palpable tension, hair-trigger violence and savvy pugilism that good mystery thriller needs. Above all the two central characters (Patrick and Angie) really connect and are fully realized, enough so that the narrative can coast on their chemistry and thinly veiled love for one another.

This is a good book, I remember reading this one vacation to Spain. My vacation was slightly boring (won't be going back to Spain), but the book still holds a vivid picture in my mind....that must be a good thing then.
