What Members Thought
Beautiful book with an excellent narrator - the story of a thirteen year old boy, told many years later, when he is a grown man, so that the story has all the pathos, wonder and terror of adolescence, but with the vocabulary and perspective of an adult. I would have rated it five stars, but the subject matter is just too hard, and so it isn't one of my favorite books of the year. But I do see why it won the National Book Award.
